Yep, Microsoft does something called "Microsoft Windows Services for Unix", now released in Version 3.5. They run their own Unix kernel in parallel to the Windows kernel and they share things like the I/O system, the Security subsystem, etc. I don't need this thing, but it is gorgeous! The guy presenting it to me ran a Windows-program on the bash and piped it to less. You can even use shared memory between Windows and Unix. Weird.....

Today was the release party of PHProjekt 5. Got to know most people of the company I think, including a pretty young guy who does custom work for a bank. Best of the release party was nonetheless the talk. The guy showed forum posts with opinions on the new release that arrived directly after the release and he only showed bad ones! That was a brave but very, very good move! I liked it! :)

So, as I promised yesterday, I went to the WINE-booth to see WINE-tools - a great package. This university teacher is a really nice guy! His WINE didn't work correctly, people around him were stressing him, but he stayed ulta-cool. :) That was exactly how he appeared to me yesterday, but to see him in 'not'-action was actually much better! He's zen! ;)

It was pretty dark outside yesterday and I couldn't take any photos of the social event. But when being in the bathroom I met DJ Submerge of Gentoo and he kindly let me take a photo of his back to show you, that tw.o got the cooler shirts! ;)

DJ Submerge really is a DJ, he will be at the turntables this evening at the huge university party. This party is every year on the last day of LinuxTag. Sadly I didn't know, must be a really fun party with some thousand people there. Have to remember that!

So, there it is - last day of LinuxTag, time to leave came way faster than I thought.

Social event yesterday was great! That was the bunch of geeks hanging around. No wonder johann__ and his folks weren't there, they are definately not cool enough for such a party! ;)
We had a lengthy talk with a WINE guy and we will meet later on, so that he can explain me in detail about WINE/Cedega, etc.

With the guys of "Team Gentoo" I had some chat about Drobbins, the founder of Gentoo, going to Microsoft and some Gentoo-specifics. That was pretty interesting, especially to hear, that even they fear #emerge --depclean. ;)

The Drobbins story is very interesting. Everybody seems to be very ok with it. Yesterday I asked very carefully: "May I ask your hatequestion the first? Why did Drobbins go to Microsoft?" - "Naa, it's no hatequestion..." I was slightly surprised by this attitude and decided to try it with other people, too. So today I told what I asked the Gentoo people at the Mayflower booth and I couldn't end my sentence. They immediately kicked in: "Hey, that's normal! What would you do? You got a wife and children and then you get such a job offer! It doesn't change anything! Gentoo will stay free and Microsoft closed!"

But the best of this whole thing is to see how Open and Free FOSS-people are!
